Education department advised not to promote students without exams

Taleem Bachao Action Committee of state-run school teachers’ association has advised the Sindh School Education and Literacy Department to not promote students to upper grades without conducting exams of compulsory subjects.

The committee has also urged the provincial government to eliminate unnecessary holidays from the next session of the school year to cover the academic loss.

Taleem Bachao Action Committee convener Anees-ur-Rahman, in a joint press statement, said that teachers of government schools were ready to cooperate with officials of the government and the education department to sort out the problems.

“It is a known fact that the quality of education in government schools is not up to the mark. This year, the closure of schools due to coronavirus has severely affected education at government schools. But it seems that the government is only worried about private schools. The officials have no plan for thousands of children studying at state-run schools.”

He also said that the whole world is providing a solution to secure the future of students, and has shifted schools online, whereas in Pakistan the government confused and has closed school without providing any solution.

He further demanded a comprehensive plan for state-run schools after the lockdown is over.
