Closure of educational institutes will be a tough decision, Shafqat Mehmood
Shafqat Mahmood, the Federal Minister of Education and Professional Training, has indicated that closing schools will be a tough decision because many students in Pakistan are dissatisfied with online classes. So, the final decision will be made on March 24 after a thorough review of the pandemic situation.

He announced at a press conference held by the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where he also spoke about the disadvantages of online education.
“The Ministry of Education wishes educational institutions to stay open, and we took several actions during COVID-19 to ensure that this happens,” he said.
The minister also discussed the differences between in-person and online classes, saying that closing schools would be challenging.
He continued to say that the government will soon introduce a uniform curriculum across Pakistan and that “Sindh had some reservations, but we are working on them.”

Mahmood has previously stated that the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic is a serious threat and that the education sector requires careful consideration.
“All education and health ministers will meet at the NCOC on Wednesday, March 24, to decide on whether to reopen or close educational institutions,” he said.
