Universities in KP are most expensive in the country, HEC Chairman

Dr. Tariq Banuri, Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), announced that public universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) are the priciest in Pakistan.

During a high-level meeting at the Governor House, he indicated that KP's universities are highly costly due to excessive spending and overstaffing.

The Chairman argued that the University of Peshawar, Gomal University Dera Ismail Khan, and Peshawar Agriculture University all spend too much money on education.

Shah Farman, the provincial governor and Chancellor of KP's public universities, presided over the meeting and spoke about public universities' administrative and financial problems.

The participants addressed administrative, financial, and academic issues at the universities and agreed that non-teaching faculty hiring at government universities could be regulated.

Shafqat Mahmood, the Federal Minister for Education, Kamran Bangash, the Special Assistant to the KP Chief Minister on Higher Education, Tariq Banuri, the Chairman of the Prime Minister's Task Force on Science and Technology, Dr. Atta ur Rehman, the Federal Secretary for Education Farah Hamid, and the Secretaries of Higher Education of KP and Punjab attended the meeting.
