ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Islamabad, has decided to conduct annual matriculation and FA, FSC examinations twice in the next academic year. The exams will be held in May and September. The combination of subjects in the exams has also been revised.

The eighth-class examinations will be conducted based on merit for which the examination papers are being prepared. Similarly, the pattern of matriculation and 12th class examination papers will test the students' intelligence, the Board of Governors (BOG) has approved in a meeting held yesterday.
According to the document, it has been decided to conduct the examinations twice a year in May and September this year to save the students from wasting their year during the Corona epidemic and give them a chance to pass the exams with better marks. Matriculation and FA board examinations will be conducted from which on the one hand students will be able to pass the same year again in case of failure and on the other hand, they will be able to get better marks.
The number of subject combinations for students has been revised, such as mathematics or economics with biology, environmental studies, and chemistry, mechatronics and bioinformatics are introduced as new programs.

The new policy aims to bring the examination system up to international standards. The baseline will consist of minimum and maximum scores. The Federal Board will issue certificates to 10th and 12th class students on passing the examination. The pattern will also reduce the burden on students, and the examination system's quality will be higher.
