Shafqat Mahmood clarifies the issue of school closures due to COVID resurgence
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – Shafqat Mahmood, the Federal Education Minister, stated on Saturday that he wants educational institutions to remain open, but that officials will decide whether or not to close schools if the situation worsens.
The education minister, speaking at a press conference alongside Fawad Chaudhry, said the situation is different in each province at the moment, but that schools will not be shuttered if the situation does not worsen.

However, he answered to a question by saying, "If there is any evidence of any worry, we can also close schools again."
He further stated that all recommendations about school closures have so far been made at an inter-provincial meeting of education ministers.
