Schools and colleges to remain close until May 23
The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has announced the extension of the ongoing closure of schools and colleges in Islamabad until May 23.
According to reports issued by the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, the FDE has sent directives on May 14 to extend the closure of institutions from May 17 to 23.

“Yes, we have extended closure until May 23. Meanwhile, Inter-Provincial Education Ministers Conference (IPEMC) and the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) meeting is going to be held on Tuesday to decide the future course of action,” said a senior officer of the education ministry.
However, another official said that the final decision will be announced by IPEMC and NCOC, keeping in view the current situation of Covid-19 in the country, it is possible that educational institutions will be permitted to reopen from May 23 under standard operating procedures (SOPs). There has been a drop in the number of Covid-19 cases and students have already faced academic loss, the official said.

He also stated that if the coronavirus cases would not uptick, the June and July board exams will be held as per the schedule.
