Punjab University observes black day against HEC policies
The Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association gave a call on Monday to observe Black Day against policies of the Higher Education Commission and the Punjab government.
PUASA and FAPUASA Punjab Chapter President Prof Dr. Mumtaz Anwar Chaudhry, Secretary Javed Sami, and other office-bearers were also present. They visited various departments of Punjab University that observed Black Day on FAPUASA call.

The teachers from various departments were wearing black armbands to mark the protest against the HEC chairman and his ‘incompetent’ team. The teachers also demanded the dismissal of HEC Chairman Dr. Tariq Banuri.
Prof Chaudhry stressed that the Punjab government must fulfill its promises made to the academic community and said that the HEC team has failed to resolve the problems being faced by the faculty members in universities and promote higher education and research culture in the country.

He also demanded that the government must reinstate 75 percent rebate given to teachers. “HEC was attempting ‘unnecessary’ and ‘illegal’ interventions in the autonomy of universities,” he added.
