School Education Department issues new timings for schools across Punjab

The school education department has issued the new timing for winter for all schools across Punjab. The timetable would be effective for both public and private schools. The schools with the students' single shift or double shift must comply with the SED's specified schedule.

The notice states that schools with a single student shift will open from 8:30 to 1:30 from Monday to Saturday, except Friday. The timings for Friday will be 8:30 to 12:15. On the other side, the schools with the double shift will work from 8:15 to 12:15 from Monday to Saturday (morning shift). On Friday, they would follow the new timing and work from 2:00 to 5:00 pm (evening shift)

The schools have opened after six months so that the school education department instructed the school authorities concerned to ensure that all appropriate steps were enforced. In consultation with the controlling officer, the head teacher may make a recess schedule for 10 minutes daily, except Fridays.

The authorities also advised the school officials to consider all precautionary measures to maintain social distance during lunch break. To prevent any inconvenience, SOPs should be maintained. The district education authority officials made adjustments to the 15 minutes of the schools' opening and closing time.

The notification indicated that from 16 October 2020, all schools would follow this plan. The new wintertime schedule is proposed, which will remain in effect until 31 March 2021.
