While addressing a joint committee, the president of All Pakistan Private Schools Association Raja Mohammad Ilyas Kiyani and General Secretary Jameel Abbasi said that the private schools in Pakistan are on the verge of closing down due to financial crises. They said that with school closures, it has become impossible for the owners to function and revive educational activities. “The government should provide interest-free loans to the school going through financial crunch to save the permanent closure,” the committee demanded.
The committee also urged the government to stop discrimination against the educational sector. The committee stated that the government is responsible for pushing the educational sector into bankruptcy to save itself from economic failure. The committee also warned that by damaging the educational sector, the country would face indescribable destruction.
The committee also said that educational activities should be resumed as soon as possible. “With Covid-19 second wave, the closure of educational institutes by the government is the direct show of hostility towards education,” stated the committee.

The committee also said that while wedding halls, markets, malls and transport are open and functioning normally, the closure of educational institutes is an attempt to deprive our youth of education.
It is pertinent to note that the federal education ministry had announced the closure of all educational institutes across the country from November 26. The schools were directed to switch the educational activities online till December 24. However, the students will be given winter break from December 24, 2020, to January 11, 2021.
