Transgender community gets its first Madrassah in Islamabad
The first-ever Madrassah founded in Islamabad specifically for the transgender community has started to enroll students from all age groups.
Hamza Shafqat, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Islamabad, inaugurated the Madrassah on Wednesday.

"So far, 25 transgender people have been enrolled in the seminary set up in Mehrabadi, in the outskirts of Islamabad," confirmed Shafqat, who has taken a special interest in providing the much-needed facility to the community.
For this neglected group of community, the seminary also acts as a recovery facility that can provide housing, food, skills, primary schooling, and religious instruction for transgender people.
"The whole plan is to put the transgender community into the mainstream. There are more initiatives on the cards to assure their social recognition," the DC Islamabad said.
He clarified that the establishment's goal is to provide transgender people with expertise and education to help them take advantage of more job opportunities.

The DC reported that it is in touch with community officials, and plans are also in the works to establish more such places in other locations.
As even the Almighty does not discriminate amongst individuals, we want to end this bigotry. Islam considers everyone a human being, so this group should be treated the same way Hamza said.
He also shared his intention to offer them work opportunities upon completing their primary education in different government departments.
