Pen and book monument attracts students
Recently inaugurated intersection has several educational institutions around it
The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has declared an intersection on Sixth Road as Kitab Chowk because several educational institutions are located on the road.
A beautiful monument of a book and pen inscribed with the unity, faith, and discipline motto has been installed at the intersection. Moreover, to beautify the place, the authority has also planted flower saplings.

Talking to The Express Tribune PHA Chairman Asif Mehmood said the road stood the test of time as a beacon of education in Rawalpindi for the last five decades. He added that most of the schools, universities, and colleges in the city are located on this road and it remained busy with student traffic.
Therefore, it was necessary to name the intersection Kitab Chowk so that people think it is called Kitab Chowk due to the presence of many educational institution on the road, he added.
A women’s university, a boys’ postgraduate college, and 20 other schools and colleges are located here. There are around 12,000 students currently enrolled in these institutions, and educational activities extend from 7am to 8pm.
A student, Hashim Ali, said he loved the idea of renaming the chowk and installing the pen and book monument.

The authority’s chairman said they were working to beautify the city and to provide more tourism and recreational facilities to the citizens
PHA Vice Chairman Malik Abid Hussain and Director-General Zaheer Anwar Jappa formally inaugurated the Kitab Chowk a few days ago.
