KP to introduce second shift in schools from August
In a bid to lessen the number of students in the morning shift, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced to start the second shift in schools from August 1.
Following the education policy of having no more than 40 students in class, the elementary and secondary education department in KP has decided to launch evening shifts in schools where classes have 60 or more students.
The officials said that the increased number of students in classes adversely impacts the learning of students.

Furthermore, officials said that the initiative of ‘double shift program’ is taken to create more space for the students of the higher classes. They said the primary school buildings will be used for the middle school classes in the evening, and the middle school buildings will be used for the high school classes.
The timings for the second shift will be 3 PM to 7:30 Pm, according to the officials.
The “second shift” initiative will be launched in 100 schools identified by the KP government. Later on, it will be expanded to 400 schools.
An amount of Rs. 110 million has been set aside for the implication of the initiative, and Rs. 35 million has been allocated in the merged tribal districts.
