In a tweet, Shafqat Mehmood said: "While I desperately want education to continue, the final decision will be on health grounds. Students' well-being will always be a priority."
On January 4, Mehmood said that the government would make no concession on children's safety, and another meeting will be held to examine the country's current coronavirus situation.
A phase-wise proposal to reopen educational institutes from January 18, which were closed on November 26 to prevent coronavirus outbreak, had previously been announced by the federal government.
The government of Punjab has informed parents that it will ensure full enforcement in schools with COVID-19 SOPs.
