Plagiarism is found in up to 50% of MS and Ph.D. work submitted to universities

Unemployed educated people in the country have taken to fabricating and plagiarizing MS and Ph.D. research papers for other students and lecturers, who have therefore published them in international journals all around the world.

In a recent interview with a domestic news channel, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Health Sciences (UHS), Prof. Dr. Javed Akram, made this statement.

Prof. Akram claims that the business of manufacturing ghost MS and Ph.D. research work has become widespread in the country, and that it is conducted by unemployed educated people.

For as little as Rs. 25,000, anyone can get their hands on fake research papers and dissertations, and South Punjab has become a hotbed of such operations, with the majority of them based in DG Khan and Rajanpur.

Fake research papers and thesis are easily authorized by institutions, according to Prof. Akram, due to a lack of a solid process to verify their validity. Fake work accounts for 30% of work accepted by public institutions and 50% of work approved by private universities.

He urged the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to take immediate action to stop the practice, which has degraded the country's reputation in the academic world.
