Govt pushed to resolve issues of university students

The Islami Jamiat Students federation demanded that the federal government should make a guiding policy for universities like the way they have made a policy for 9th to 12th grade with the mutual consent of the province and the government.

While meeting with the delegation of IJS, the Minister of Education, Shafqat Mehmood, addressed the concerns of Islami Jamiat Students and said that Universities are private entities. Therefore, the government would refrain from micromanaging them. However, keeping the current unprecedented situation caused by a coronavirus, the Minister of Education instructed the president of HEC to take all the varsities' Vice-Chancellors on board and prepare a plan with the mutual agreement. On the question of demand for an increased budget for universities he said that the government spent 64 billion rupees last year on universities in the capacity of development and non-development projects "Because the salaries are on freeze and the country is going through a critical phase, the budget of 65 billion for universities is more than enough", he said

وزیر تعلیم تعلیم شفقت محمود نے آئی جے ایس کے وفد سے ملاقات کے دوران اسلامی جمعیت طلبہ کے تحفظات کو دور کیا اور کہا کہ یونیورسٹیاں نجی ادارے ہیں۔ لہذا ، حکومت ان کی مائیکرو مینجمنٹ سے دور رہے گی۔ تاہم کورونا وائرس کی وجہ سے موجودہ غیر معمولی صورتحال کو مدنظر میں رکھتے ہوئے ، وزیر تعلیم نے ایچ ای سی کے صدر کو ہدایت کی کہ وہ تمام یونیورسٹیوں کے وائس چانسلرز کو بورڈ پر لیں اور باہمی معاہدے کے ساتھ لائحہ عمل تیار کریں۔ جامعات کے لئے بجٹ میں اضافے کے مطالبے کے سوال پر انہوں نے کہا کہ حکومت نے پچھلے سال یونیورسٹیز پر ترقیاتی اور غیر ترقیاتی منصوبوں کی گنجائش میں 64 ارب روپے خرچ کیے تھے "کیونکہ تنخواہیں منجمد ہیں اور ملک ایک نازک مرحلے سے گذر رہا ہے انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ یونیورسٹیوں کے لئے 65 ارب کا بجٹ کافی سے بھی زیادہ ہے۔

اجلاس کے دوران، آئی جے ایس کے ایک طلباء نے عید الاضحی کے بعد یونیورسٹیوں کو دوبارہ کھولنے کا مطالبہ بھی کیا۔

In a meeting, the IJS student delegation also demanded the re-opening of universities after Eid-ul-Adha.
