Uniform curriculum will end class based disparity, says PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday said the single national curriculum would eradicate the class-based education system in the country and all children will get equal opportunities to progress in the field of education.

The prime minister said this while chairing the meeting for single national curriculum that the federal government in partnership with the provincial education ministries is determined to introduce.  The uniform education system will be introduced at all the primary level classes in public and private schools and religious seminaries in the country. The curriculum will be applicable from the academic session beginning in April 2021.

According to sources, a single curriculum will be introduced in grades six to eight in 2022 and from nine to 12 grades in 2023.

The prime minister also said that our younger generation should be fully aware of the life and Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), “Our Prophet is a role model for all of us,” he said.

Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood, Punjab’s Education Minister Murad Ras, Punjab’s Minister for Higher Education Yasir Humayun, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Education Minister Shehram Tarkai, and Parliamentary Secretary for Federal Education Wajiha Ikram and other senior official were present at the meeting.
