SpaceX internet broadband deal will provide internet access to 40,000 schools, small and medium enterprises says IT Minister
Starlink, a worldwide satellite broadband provider based in the United States, has expressed interest in connecting Pakistan to its services.
On Tuesday, a delegation led by Starlink Middle East & Asia Director Ryan Goodnight met with federal Minister of Information Technology and Telecom Syed Amin-ul-Haque and IT Secretary Dr Sohail Rajput, as well as the company's head of global site acquisition Ben Macwilliam.
There was also talk about launching Starlink's satellite broadband internet across Pakistan. Starlink Pakistan, which has already been registered in Pakistan, is anticipated to open its doors soon.
Starlink is a SpaceX-operated satellite broadband constellation that provides satellite internet access to nearly every country on the planet.
SpaceX has expressed interest in establishing a Space of Things and Internet of Things infrastructure in Pakistan.

Broadband demand in Pakistan is on the rise, according to the IT minister, with 40,000 schools and small and medium businesses expanding their digital footprint in the country. According to him, broadband connectivity is an appealing economic model, and increased penetration in unserved and underserved areas is boosting the number of internet users.
Mr. Haq described the IT ministry's "Broadband for All" vision. He claimed it was in line with Prime Minister Imran Khan's Digital Pakistan goal. He stated that it was targeted at increasing internet usage in the public sector, notably in the education sector.
