Sindh Govt decides not to fully adopt the single national curriculum
The government of Sindh has agreed to remove some elements of the Single National Curriculum (SNC) from the provincial Curriculum at the primary level.
Although no plans are being made to introduce the SNC in Sindh, a new curriculum for the secondary and higher secondary levels is being created by the provincial Education Department.
The Sindh Textbook Board (STB) is revising the Grade 9 Science textbooks as per media reports, and the Department of Curriculum has begun to plan a new Intermediate level curriculum.

An STB official disclosed that the critical difference in Islamic Studies, Urdu, Sindhi, and Social Studies is between the federation's Curriculum and the Unified National Curriculum in Sindh.
The officer continued that the SNC offered a different placement from Grade 1 to Islamic Studies, while in Sindh, it is taught from Grade 4 onwards. Also, the provincial government is confident that it will teach Islamic Studies from Grade 4 ahead.
Similarly, there are more hadiths in the primary level Islamic Studies curriculum of the federation than in the Sindh curriculum, with which Sindh disagrees.
In the Grade 4 program, specific topics in science subjects for Grade 5 have been included, which creates an undue burden on the students.

The new Curriculum planning for higher secondary level has also been confirmed to have started in Sindh, which will be adopted for the next academic session in 2022/23 instead of the next academic session.
According to sources, the Curriculum prepared by the department of Curriculum has removed Zoology and Botany's separate positioning for First Year and Second Year. The subjects have been combined like Matriculation-style Biology. The same book will be available as one subject, 'Biology,' instead of separately as Zoology and Botany in the academic session 2022/23 for the medical students at the Intermediate level.
