SHC revokes notification of 20% fee reduction
Sindh High Court suspended notification of school fee reduction by 20%and ordered the government to submit a reply by April 22. A two-member High Court bench headed by Justice Nadeem Akhtar gave notice to Advocate General Sindh and other parties to appear at the next hearing. The court also directed the implementation of the given notice to remain suspended until the next hearing.
The counsel of the petitioner said, “This decision was made without the consultation of concerned authorities or the Cabinet. He also said that the decision to reduce fees was taken without hearing the status of privately run schools and their authorities.”
On April 7, the Department of Sindh Education released a notice ordering all private schools to reduce their monthly fees by 20%. The statement said that the steps were supposed to give relief to parents because of the lockout triggered by the outbreak of the Coronavirus
