Schools to follow strict Covid SOPs, Murad Raas

Lahore: Education Minister of Punjab Murad Raas guaranteed parents that the government would strictly implement the coronavirus SOPs at educational institutes than before and persuade them to send their children to school.

A phase-wise proposal to reopen educational institutes from January 18, which were closed on November 26 to prevent coronavirus outbreak, had previously been announced by the federal government.

In a video message, Murad Raas said: "We are reopening schools on January 18, and in the first phase, secondary school students will attend classes." Primary and elementary school students will begin in-person education in the second quarter, while colleges will commence classes from February 1 onwards.

In enforcing COVID-19 SOPs, the provincial minister said no other sector had displayed more discipline than schools in enforcing the covid SOPs and assured parents that the government remained focused on this.

"I urge parents to send their children to schools. The covid SOPs will be more strictly adhered to than before, and we are trying to get the best preparations for the children's safety," he said.
