Pakistan and Turkey sign MoU to promote literacy
A memorandum of understanding was signed between Pakistan and Turkey on Wednesday to promote education and literacy in Pakistan.

The photographs of Turkish foreign minister Mevlut Cavusoglu and Pakistani education minister Shafqat Mahmood inking the MoU were shared on Federal minister’s Twitter account. The ceremony was attended by foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
Under the agreement, approved by the federal cabinet a day ago, Turkey’s Maarif Foundation, which presently has the prestige of an international non-governmental organisation, will be deemed as a Turkish government institution in Pakistan.

“Maarif Foundation will be able to expand its operations in Pakistan in terms of opening and running new campuses, cultural and educational centers, language centers, student exchange programs, and scholarships,” said Harun Kucukaladagli, the organization’s country director for Pakistan. He added that foundation’s activities and operations would come within the sphere of the two governments after the agreement.
