Punjab's primary schools to be upgraded to higher levels, Murad Raas
LAHORE: 800 primary schools will be upgraded to higher standards by the Punjab government, provincial education minister Murad Raas said Wednesday.
Under the "Insaf Afternoon School Program," the education ministry has "already upgraded some primary schools," the education minister added.

Raas said he took the initiative to improve the schools' enrollment when he was told that after completing the fifth grade, a "shocking" 70 percent of students dropped out.
"So when I saw the numbers, I thought that building schools would take us nearly 2-3 years and millions of rupees would be invested on it, which we don't have," he said.
We upgraded elementary schools to overcome this challenge and asked the teachers who take lectures in the evening to teach classes 6, 7, and 8," he said.
