Punjab Govt to build a University in Nankana Sahib
Governor of Punjab, Chaudhary Muhammad Sarwar signed Baba Guru Nanak University Nankana Sahib Bill 2020. After the legislation gets passed, the government of Punjab will establish an international level University in Nankana Sahib.

Chaudhary Sarwar said, "The University of Baba Guru Nanak will excel in academics and research and be a center of excellence in different disciplines." He added that setting up a high-level university in Nankana Sahib's historic city would bring about a new phase of growth, prosperity, and knowledge.

In October 2019, Prime Minister Imran Khan laid the foundation stone for the university named after the founder of Sikhism. The university will establish in northeastern Punjab province's Nankana Sahib District, Baba Guru Nanak’s birthplace, 75 kilometers (46 miles) from Lahore provincial capital.
