Punjab Govt allows to postpone MBBS supplementary exams

The Coronavirus eradication committee of Punjab cabinet has granted permission to medical universities to postpone supplementary MBBS final examinations.

The decision was taken after a report was submitted to the cabinet by the Professional Healthcare and Medical Education Department of Punjab (SHC&MED) seeking permission to postponed the exams to save time for medical students.

Despite the ongoing pandemic, it is not viable to promote medical students without exams, Secretary SHC&MED, Nabeel Awan said. So the government of Punjab has decided to allow medical universities to postponed MBBS exams.

In this regard, all medical universities and colleges have been instructed to take the necessary precautions and to implement all SOPs to prevent students and staff from contracting the Coronavirus.

Nabeel Awan said that the date of the final professional MBBS supplementary exams will be announced soon. Therefore, students are advised to prep themselves for their exams.

The Inter-Medical University Board, consisting of VCs and rectors from all medical universities, decided last month that no student from any medical or dental college in Pakistan would be promoted to the next class without passing the Coronavirus pandemic examinations. This meeting was held at the University of Health Sciences (UHS), Lahore.
