After the educational institutes across the world decided to close down to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and overcome the academic loss caused by the closure, Coursera made its full course catalog available to all the higher educational institutions in the US and across the world. The free online courses were announced on June 1, 2020.

According to a report published by Study International Staff, any undergraduate, graduate, or recently-graduated student can sign up to do any course for free.

Shravan Goli, Chief Product Officer of Coursera, said that currently, over one million tertiary-level students have turned to Coursera to continue their studies during the pandemic lockdown.

“Nearly 70% of the world’s students remain impacted by campus closures due to the coronavirus. Among them are hundreds of millions of students in colleges and universities around the world. While on-campus education is interrupted, learning must continue,” Goli said in a statement.
