For achieving new standards, the council approved a phased approach for the underperforming institutes, in which they will be given reasonable time for improvements.

During the inspections, the institutions will be graded ‘A+’, ‘A’, ‘B’, and ‘C’. Those with C’s will be given sufficient time towards achieving the new better accreditation standards.

These Inspections will be carried out according to the 2019 accreditation standards for undergraduate medical and dental colleges.

To test a candidate’s ability as a safe practitioner, they must go through the National Licensing Examination (NLE), the PMC has decided.
