Madrassahs to introduce contemporary syllabus
The government has approved a project for the development of Directorate General of Religious Education under the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training under which all religious seminaries (Madrassah) will be registered and follow contemporary syllabus of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary School (HSSC) levels.
The syllabus will be introduced in all religious seminaries over the period of five years in a bid to bring them into mainstream education. The similar projects were also introduced in the tenure of Pervez Musharraf and Shaukat Aziz but could not deliver the desired outcome.

The funding worth Rs. 1,253.4 million has been approved by the government during the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) meeting chaired by Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan.
The purpose of the project is to mainstream all religious institutes by registering them with M/o FE&PT and enable them to introduce contemporary syllabus in the deeni madaris to bring all students on one page.
