Lack of PhD teachers: HEC Stops IBA from accepting admissions in journalism

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has stopped the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) from accepting Masters in Journalism admissions because of the unavailability of its Ph.D. faculty.

"Do not offer admission until you have a Ph. D. faculty," IBA was directed by the HEC, following which the varsity suspended the admission process in its journalism department.

IBA spokesperson Malahat stated that, on the orders of the HEC, the Center for Excellence in Journalism (CEJ) had stopped admissions for Masters.

She said, “The process would soon resume as a Ph. D. teacher's services have obtained, and another teacher would enter the department within one to two months.”

Malahat said the teaching process would proceed unimpeded for the students enrolled in undergraduate or master's programs.

This Department was created under the tenure of former director Dr. Ishrat Hussain who now heads the task force on institutional reforms for PM. The Department provides professional training to Pakistani journalists.
