KPK starts random testing for covid-19 in schools

The health authorities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) have resumed random testing for coronavirus in schools. The results will be evaluated at the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) meeting.

After a break of one and a half months in the aftermath of the second outbreak of the pandemic, higher secondary schools and colleges began on-campus classes on Monday. If the coronavirus situation stays under control, educational operations are scheduled to resume from 1 February in primary to middle schools and universities.

In the last 24 hours, the province has confirmed 210 new cases and eight coronavirus deaths. There were six fatalities in Peshawar and one each in Haripur and Bannu.

So far, 63,825 cases have been reported by KP, of which 58,348 have been recovered. According to authorities, 2,000 of these cases were identified at schools before their closing on 26 November.
