KPK issues SOPs for reopening schools

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Ministry has issued standard operating procedures (SOPs) for schools as they reopen schools throughout the province.

Under the SOPs, all schools are directed to carry out temperature sensors for the students. Any high-fever student would not be permitted to enter.

Students with signs of COVID-19 will be sent on a seven days break. In case a student tests positive, a 14-day leave is granted to the entire class.

Throughout the academic session, the ministry has implemented face masks, social distancing, and no-handshake policies. The policy applies to students, teachers, and other staff.

Assembly, recesses, or any other events in the school will not be allowed.

Students would be prohibited from exchanging lunch boxes and utensils. They would be advised to carry their lunch boxes as a safety measure.

The KP government had previously declared that it would open public schools from August 6. Only 30 to 40 percent of staff strength was permitted entry for administrative purposes and to ensure that all plans are in place until the formal reopening.
