Students on Twitter for the first time registered a record-breaking protest in a day, with more than 1,000,000 tweets demanding the cancellation of in-person exams.

Making it to the top trends on Twitter, the hashtag addressing Premier Imran Khan “Imran Khan Students ki Sun lo” broke the internet on Saturday when students demanded the cancellation of in-person exams due to coronavirus expected fourth wave.

However, the Federal Minister for Education has reinstated on Saturday that the education department will not cancel exams at any cost. The government will stick with the decision to take exams on the announced dates. He confirmed that the exams would be held on time, dispelling rumors that the ministry canceled exams.

It is pertinent to note that the Federal and Punjab boards have already issued the examination date sheets and roll number slips for in-person examinations conducted from 11 July onwards. The education department has informed the concerned boards to give the roll numbers and slips to students. The regular students will be required to collect the roll number and slips from their colleges, while the private candidates will receive them via post.

The official spokesman of the Rawalpindi Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (RBISE), Arsalan Cheema, stated that the date sheets and roll number slips for the in-person examinations had been issued to all the candidates.

Last week, the students had taken to the streets and blocked main roads in the Federal capital demanding cancellation of exams.
