HEC denies the news of University closure

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has denied news spreading on various social networking sites, indicating that, due to the revival of COVID-19, the commission has declared universities' shutdown in Pakistan.

According to the official statement released by the Commission, HEC has not released any notification for the closure of universities.

Each university will decide to operate or close according to its specific situation, the statement added.

HEC has stated that in the outbreak of COVID-19, district administrators are allowed to shut down every university.

Yesterday, Quaid-e - Azam University (QAU) was shut down for one day after 5 cases of coronavirus were confirmed.

The administration of the QAU has now agreed to hold all academic activities online by 6 November.

Pakistan has confirmed 773 new cases and 6 deaths due to Coronavirus in the last 24 hours. Overall, 329,375 cases and 6,745 deaths due to Coronavirus have been registered in the country so far.
