Government advised to use top-bottom approach in reopening educational institutes

The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) have advised the government to adopt top bottom approach in the matter of reopening educational institutions starting with universities, colleges and then schools.

In a meeting conducted last week, the NCOC proposed one-point agenda for the reopening of schools and colleges.

The meeting was attended by the ministers of all provinces including, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).

Moreover, the meeting was also attended by all the stakeholder and representatives of educational institutions with the suggested approach.

The meeting also discussed the current COVID-19 situation in Pakistan to develop the consensus on the decision to reopening of educational institution.

The threat and challenges in opening educational institutions were also assessed to prevent students from catching the virus.

The Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Shafqat Mehmood, said that the final decision would be made on the 7th of September.

No extra-curricular activities will be commenced even after the schools will be reopened, the meeting decided.

Dr. Faisal Sultan, the Assistant to Prime Minister on Health, as well as the PM House’s Focal Person on Covid-19, assured the partakers that the Ministry of Health will observe the condition of institutions daily.
