Commencement of school zonal games in Islamabad as pandemic on the wane
Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood stated on Thursday that children cannot progress unless they participate in sports activities, which are essential for their health.
The minister made the remarks at the Pakistan Sports Complex, where children from educational institutions under the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) competed in inter-zonal games.

He said that the sporting event signalled a major drop in the Covid-19 pandemic and that pupils were returning to normal school life.
According to the minister, Covid-19 had a negative impact on the school sector, and sports activities were supposed to help kids de-stress.

He urged the students to remain focused on their studies as well as their extracurricular activities, emphasising that education is the only path to the country's socioeconomic progress. Prime Minister Imran Khan, he said, encourages such activities, and sports events will continue to be held in the future.
