All you need to know about elective subjects’ exam inter and matric students will take

The Federal and provincial governments have announced that in the upcoming Matric and Intermediate final board exams students will appear only for elective subjects.

What are the elective subjects?

In a meeting this week, the federal education minister Shafqat Mahmood had said that the students will not be promoted without exams this year.  Keeping the situation of coronavirus in view, the government has therefore decided to conduct exams for only elective subjects on Matric and Intermediate levels.

In this regard, the Head of the Inter-board Committee of Chairmen Sindh Dr. Saeed Uddin has said that all preparations for the board examination are completed. Moreover, he said that the notification regarding elective subjects’ exams will soon be disseminated.

For matric Science group students, however, he said that the students will be required to give exams in math and physics from the optional subjects.

As for the matric General group, since it’s a long list of subjects, “we will notify about them soon,” he said.

He said that students of the grade 12 engineering group will give physics, chemistry, and mathematics exams, while grade 12 pre-medical group students will be required to appear for physics, chemistry, and biology.

Meanwhile, for grade 12 students of the general science group, computer science, economics, statistics exams will be conducted.

As for grade 12 students of the commerce group, exams will be conducted for the principals of commerce, statistics, and business.

Exams for Technical Board

Chairman Technical Board Dr. Masroor Sheikh has said that students of the technical board will have to take optional subjects in technology but exams for compulsory subjects like Urdu, Islamic Studies, and English, etc., will not be conducted.

Final decision

It has been decided by the government that the board exams will be conducted after July 10.

The education minister said exams of classes 10 and 12 would be conducted first — from July 10 — and the examinations of classes 9 and 11 will be conducted once they end.
