All set to launch Single National Curriculum workshop, Says Murad Raas

The Education Minister for Punjab, Dr. Murad Raas announced on Wednesday that the School Education Department is all set to launch the workshop of Single National Curriculum (SNC) for the grades 6 to 8.

“School Education Department launched the Workshop of Single National Curriculum of grade 6 - 8. Our teams are in place to start working on this and implementation in 2022 InshAllah,” said minister in a Tweet.

However, in reply to the tweet, many concerned citizens raised questions on the implementation plan SNC by the government.

A Twitter user asked the minister regarding the orientation before the implementation of SNC in primary sections “Where are your model books? When will you print them? Do you have the capacity to provide for all across the board in time, public and private sector both?” asked the Twitter user.

In August, the Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood had announced that SNC will be enforced phase wise. “A single uniform syllabus will be introduced by March 2021 for the grades one to five by, for class 6 to 8 in March 2022 and for class 9 to 12 in 2023,” said the minister in August.

Federal Minister for Education, Shafqat Mahmood reportedly said, SNC for grade 1 to 5 has been published on the ministry’s website and can be downloaded on this link.

Minister had said that the single syllabus has been formulated after an exceptional review process taking every stakeholder on board. He stated that suggestions to improve the curriculum will also be welcomed.

Earlier, the official document noted that the new curriculum would be devised to stimulate the uniform prospects of high-excellence education for all children irrespective of their social and financial status.

The official document further stated that it aims to provide single system of Education for all, in terms of syllabus, mode of instruction and single evaluation and assessment platform to have fair and equal prospects for all children to receive high quality education.

The new syllabus would be implemented across the board in all schools of Pakistan including public and private sectors as well as madrassas.
