The Arshad Sharif Memorial Institute of Media & Communication Studies will be located at GCU
It has been announced that Government College University in Lahore will honor senior journalist Arshad Sharif, who was brutally murdered in Kenya last October.
On January 28th, the Academic Council of GCU approved the construction of the Arshad Sharif Memorial Institute of Media and Communication Studies.
The Memorial Institute will have two departments - the Department of Digital Communication and Media and the Department of Media and Communication Studies.
It will serve as a center for the experimentation with innovative technologies and communication strategies.
A brand new Agriculture Department was approved by the Academic Council, as well as the launch of a new degree program called Biomaterial Engineering and the building of a Center of Excellence (CoE).
Additionally, the council approved establishing evening classes due to an increase in applicant numbers. Initial admissions to the evening classes are expected to be 600 next year.
