Sindh Education Department bans teachers from receiving gifts at work
The Director of Schools has instructed district education officers across the city not to accept gifts during the annual school inspections.
During these inspections, DEOs will no longer be allowed to receive wages, ajrak, hats, cakes, food items, and other items.
A strict punishment would be imposed on officers who violate these orders, he said.
In the past, the education department spent a lot of money buying gifts on the occasion of visits after receiving orders verbally from department officials.
There were previously 22 ghost teachers sacked by the Sindh education department.
At the direction of the provincial education minister, Syed Sardar Shah, 19 primary teachers were sacked from their positions in the Larkana division. Larkana's director of primary education said an investigation was underway to detect more ghost teachers.
