Karachi University rejects HEC’s decision
Karachi: Karachi University has rejected the Higher Education Commission's (HEC) decision to end the two-year graduation and master's programs.
Karachi University has rejected the Higher Education Commission's decision to end the two-year graduation and master's program and not recognize it from 2018 onwards and start an associate degree in colleges on a semester basis. It has been decided to continue the two-year degree and master's program in colleges and not stop the admissions flow.

Criticizing the HEC's policy, the summary sent to the Sindh government said that the policy did not take into account the future of private students and education and the financial situation of the universities. The college does not have the required infrastructure to start associate degrees, while Karachi University covers 27% of its administrative expenses with the same degree and master's program.
Karachi University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Iraqi said that Karachi University had presented this decision of HEC to its Academic Council twice in the past and both times the Academic Council has rejected this decision while the HEC has also done nothing to introduce the associate degree program in colleges instead of two-year graduation, in terms of college administration and academics.
Karachi University is writing a letter to the Chairman HEC in this regard in which the Chairman HEC Dr. Tariq Banuri will be asked to attend the Forum of Vice-Chancellors of 187 public and private universities across the country in connection with the two-year degree program. Convene a meeting and present the matter to the Vice-Chancellors.

In summary, sent to the Universities and Boards Department by Karachi University, the Sindh government has been informed that the HEC has decided to close the two-year degree and MA programs. Students and their education were not taken into consideration. The summary said that the criticism and observation of Karachi University on this policy of HEC should also be made a part of the record that thousands of students ignored completely those who take BA, B.Sc. and M.A, M.Sc. examinations on a private basis without any admission in any government or private colleges.
