HEC abolishes two year MA and MSc programs
The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan has abolished the two year MA and MSC program entirely effective December 3, 2020. The commission said HEC would not attest any registered students in the two-year Master's program after December 31, 2020.

According to notification by HEC, the students will be able to take admission in the two year Master's program in fall 2020 for the last time.
The final decision to obliterate the two-year program was taken in the 31st annual conference of HEC. Commission maintained that information regarding abolishing two-year bachelor and Master's programs was already communicated to colleges and universities in the letters issued in 2017 and 2019.
The commission instructed institutes to assure the execution of the decision and inform the students about the abolishment of two-year program through their official websites.

The commission said that no two-year degree program would be accepted or attested by HEC after December 31, 2020.
