Govt to vaccinate teachers ahead of board examinations

In an attempt to progress towards the educational institutes reopening phase and ensure the safety of educational staff, the federal government on Thursday announced that the vaccinations of teachers will begin on a priority basis.

According to reports, the spokesperson of the education ministry said that the decision has been taken after the meeting with the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC). The initiative has been taken to minimize the academic loss incurred by the educational sector due to the coronavirus pandemic.

He said that the government plans to vaccinate the teachers and educational staff through targeted vaccinations in order to provide support to the educational sector. In a bid to curb the spread among students and teachers ahead of upcoming board exams, the teachers will be allowed to enter examination halls only after getting vaccinated.

The spokesperson said that the ministry of education has reached out to NCOC to support particular provincial and local governments for prompt vaccination of teaching and support staff. Directives have been sent to all Chief Secretaries for quick application.

The proposed deadline to get the education sector vaccinated as per the government policy is 5th June.
