Govt responds to plea against physical exams
The federal government has submitted a reply to a petition to the Sindh High Court (SHC) against its decision to hold in-person O and A-Levels examinations.
In this regard, the additional Attorney- General specified that government’s decision to hold in-person exams this year is in the line with the agreement of the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC).

It is pertinent to note that a number of students had pleaded the SHC earlier, lamenting over the government’s decision to conduct A-and As Level exams from April 26 and the O- and O Level exams from May 10. The students had complained that by conducting in-person exams the government is putting thousands of lives at risk as the daily rate of positive coronavirus cases surge in the country.

“Online exams are being conducted worldwide due to the coronavirus. But Pakistan is the only country where students are required to sit in exams in person,” they had argued, further stating that “It seems paradoxical, that on one hand the government considers it risky and dangerous for students from 1 to 12 grades across the country to either attend physical classes or exams in the ongoing third wave of the COVID-19, but on the other, they chose otherwise for thousands of Cambridge students.”
