Parliamentarians and civil society have formed an Education Parliamentary Caucus (EPC) to address significant barriers and give recommendations for reforms to decision makers, after noticing various problematic areas in the current education system across the country. According to a press release, the efforts will be focused on ensuring that education policies and programs can overcome implementation gaps and successfully cater to the different genuine requirements of children, adolescents, and adults in Pakistan for quality education.

The EPC includes parliamentarians from all political parties; The EPC will serve as a focal point for coordination and collaboration with important stakeholders in order to exert pressure on parliament to pass all applicable policies, particularly Article 25A and SDG-4. In same spirit, EPC will also strive for proper resource allocations to improve the quality of education for all children.

EPC is formed in collaboration with Edtech sector, CSO’s and other development organizations including Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Affairs, Teach for Pakistan, Pakistan Alliance for Early Childhood and UNICEF.

Next month, EPC will hold its formal in-person launch, during which all EPC members will join hands in solidarity. The EPC will operate simultaneously at the provincial and national levels to generate needed resources and guarantee that education policies and sector plans are implemented effectively.
