The Punjab government has agreed to start widespread coronavirus testing at Lahore's schools and universities. It has set a goal of performing 5,000 tests per day.
Students over the age of 12 will be checked for the deadly virus, according to the Punjab health and education departments. If a school reports more than three cases, it will be closed down immediately.
Classrooms will be sealed if two covid tests come up positive. Teachers and other staff workers are also required to be tested under the new guidelines.
The provincial government will organize the initiative, and all testing will be free of charge.

The news comes after the National Command and Operation Center issued directives to conduct a huge testing campaign and close educational institutions with a high Covid-19 positive rate.
Vaccination for students over the age of 12 has also been declared mandatory by the forum. Schools for younger students will be open on alternating days with 50% attendance.
In less than a month, Pakistan's active Covid-19 cases had surged by sevenfold. In the previous 24 hours, 6,357 coronavirus cases have been registered across the country. As a result, the rate of positive has risen to 12.81 percent.
According to statistics, Karachi was the center of infection during this wave. The city's positivity rate has risen by more than 30%.
