The Khyber Medical University (KMU) and Dosti Welfare Organization (DWO) have signed an agreement under which $5,000 will be awarded to the province's all-around best medical graduate each year to encourage healthy competition among medical students.
The idea has been dubbed "The Doctor Zakia Minhas Award of Excellence" by both parties. Dr. Zakia Minhas, the first gynaecologist in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, worked at Peshawar's Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH). She died in December of last year.
