The Higher Education Commission's powers have been reduced
A revised amendment to the Higher Education Act has been approved by the Cabinet Committee on Legislation. This amendment will result in the chairman of HEC being removed from the rank of federal minister.
The government will appoint the Executive Director after the amendment is approved by the Ministry of Education, according to sources.
In accordance with sources, the Prime Minister's Office has decided to review the amendment bill, after which the amendments will be presented to the Cabinet for approval.
The powers of HEC will be reduced after approval from the Cabinet, and the status and privileges of the Federal Minister will be withdrawn from the Chairman.
