South Punjab to host 5-day school Olympics
MULTAN: On Monday, the inaugural ceremony of the South Punjab School Olympics of 2021, SCHOOLYMPICS, the region's first-ever massive sports event, will take place.
Upwards of 1,800 players and athletes — both boys and girls — from the 11 districts of the area will compete for medals in athletics, hockey, football, volleyball, badminton, and table tennis in competitions that will last several days, according to the recently founded School Education Department of South Punjab in Dera Ghazi Khan.

The ceremony will be attended by Minister for School Education Dr Murad Raas, Provincial Minister for Energy Dr Akhtar Malik, and Minister for Livestock Hasnain Dareshak, in addition to Additional Chief Secretary Saqib Zaffar, Dera Ghazi Khan Commissioner Sara Aslam, and School Education Secretary of South Punjab Dr Ehtasham Anwar.
Dr. Anwar stated that the SCHOOLYMPICS were designed after the Olympics to give children a taste and exposure to the world's largest sporting event.
“In addition to encouraging youngsters to engage in healthy activities and creating outstanding athletes and players, the SCHOOLYMPICS would bring entertainment options to an area that falls behind other parts of the country in many ways,” he said.
