Schools to reopen on January 18, Shafqat Mahmood
The Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood has announced that the schools would reopen on January 18 for the grade 9, 10, 11, and 12, whereas, the classes for primary section grades 1 to 8 will begin on February 1, 2021.
While speaking to a media presser, the education minister said that the date for the reopening of schools and colleges for 9, 10, 11, and 12 would reopen following the same decision taken earlier. He said that another meeting will be held next week with the National Command operation Center (NCOC) to review the situation of Coronavirus in various cities and the decision for each city will be taken on the basis of the cases there.
The Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training had said in a tweet earlier that he will hold a press briefing after the high-level meeting today.
The NCOC meeting was attended by federal and provincial education ministers while the health ministry was also present at the meeting. "While I desperately want education to continue, the final decision will be on health grounds. Students' wellbeing will always be a priority," Mahmood said in a tweet on Wednesday.
