Schools in the Safi Tehsil Area Isolated from Sports Tournament
Schools in Safi Tehsil, both private and public, have been ignored in the inter-school hardball cricket tournament being organized by the district education department with support from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
It was claimed by the students of Safi Tehsil that teams were selected based on influence rather than merit. Their recommendation was to stop the tournament and select teams based on merit.
Last year's champions were Governor's Model School, Mamad Gat, and New Pakistan Public School, Bawota.
There was also a protest the other day at Mohmand Press Club by students and teachers demanding their schools be included in the tournament on merit.
Teachers from Al-Safi Public School, Darwazgai; Governor's Model School, Mamad Gat; New Pakistan Public School, Bawota; Ziarat Public High School and others raised the issue.
A rescheduling of the tournament matches was requested and their students' inclusion was demanded.
