Punjab Govt instructs education CEOs to fill religion column for Quran teaching
Education CEOs have now been instructed to enter the religion category for students in public schools in the School Information System by the Program Monitoring and Implementation Unit of the Punjab Education Sector Reform Program (PMIU-PESRP) (SIS).
The Punjab Compulsory Teaching of the Holy Quran (Amendment) Act 2021, according to the notice, binds the teaching of the Holy Quran as a separate compulsory subject for Muslim students in all educational institutions (public, private, and madressahs) in Punjab.
As a result, PITB has incorporated a distinct area in the School Information System (SIS) application for students' religion (Muslim/Non-Muslim).
According to the report, 1.62 million students out of 11.92 million had their data uploaded into the SIS programme as of January 10.

the PMIU-PESRP is in desperate need of Muslim student enrolment data in order to place a printing order for Tajweedi Qaida for class I and Holy Quran translation for students in classes VI-IX for the academic year 2022-23.
Furthermore, information on non-Muslim pupils (grades I-X) is needed to make an indent for the publication of the topic Ethics for the upcoming academic session.
Previously, the Punjab government made the Naazrah Quran compulsory in schools across the province for students in grades I through V.
Usman Buzdar, the region's chief minister, has authorised the appointment of 70,000 Arabic teachers to teach the Holy Quran to all students in the province.
